Like mother like son. Amulek enjoys a good massage every now and then.

Reading Time
Amulek loves books. He will sit in his chair, pull a book off the shelf and "read" out loud to himself. I often feel him nudging my leg and look down to see him bringing me a book. We also love going to the library for Toddler Time. They sing songs, read a story, and have a puppet show. There are usually a lot of kids and their moms and Amulek loves the social aspect. He was a bit shy at first but now he is getting in the middle of the action with the rest.

5 Little Monkeys
Amulek has a book with the monkey song in it. You know, the five little monkeys jumping on the bed? In case you didn't know the song, here is Amulek singing it for you.

Sunday Cookies
We are certainly enjoying our new house and the neighborhood we live in. We have received visits and goodies from our neighbors, so this Sunday we decided to make cookies and return the favor. Also, we have to enjoy the last few days of warm Fall weather. Amulek was peaking out at us and laughing. Then he ran off. This kid has it in for us...

Yes. We're freaks.
Yes.
We are freaks.
Amulek got this balloon at the homecoming parade and later we used it as a punching bag. But I decided we needed some faces on the punching bag. So we drew each other. I thought my hastily-drawn Lamoni was a pretty good likeness.
However, I think Lamoni could have put in a little more effort on his drawing of me.
Oh well. Now we have this gem floating around the house to punch around.

If I had $100....
I read an article recently where women were asked what they would do if they had an extra $100 to spend however they wanted. So, I decided to give it a try!
If I had $100 I would:
Buy this book.
Get more command strips and frames to hang pictures in our rental home.
A shopping spree to DI, my favorite store, where I would look for items similar to these:
A comfy sweater.
With my remaining $25 or so we would go out to eat. Probably Italian or Asian. Maybe Sushi. Hmmm...

World's Fair
We know some peeps that throw awesome parties. Like a formal steampunk masquerade for Halloween. We decided to go western steampunk with our costumes, though my camera was down at the time so we didn't get any pics of the cool details such as the clock and spring coil on my hat, or the pocket watch, etc. But we sure did have a great time!

BYU Homecoming
I know. It has been a while since our last post. Like a few months. Like since we were in Mexico. That is why I thought these pictures would be a good new start for us. Not only was in BYU homecoming today but we are enjoying our other new homecoming. Yes, we are finally settled back into our old routine here. And we're lovin' it!

Thinking of Papa
We went swimming at a nearby pond and decided to also explore a gravel pit. Amulek was reminded of his Papa!

Touristing in Puebla
On Saturday, we decided to head to Puebla for a few hours and tourist around the center, or Zocalo. We saw the Municipal Palace and Lamoni got to see his future seat of office, even if he wasn´t allowed to sit in it. We also walked around some shops but I was disappointed to find out that there were no book stores. I was told later that the street full of bookstores is a few blocks away. Argh. My favorite part was when we finally bought a baloon for Amulek. He hugged it and smiled the whole ride home!

Pyramids at Cacaxtla
This sunday we went to Puebla for Stake Conference. After, we drove to some pyramids close by in the state of Tlaxcala. It is a little known site called Cacaxtla but it had some of the best ruins I have ever seen. Home to a Mayan/Olmecan site, the main pyramid has several surviving Mayan style murals that were absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, we didn´t get many photos of the place but we are hoping to go back again before we leave.

Cinco de Mayo
Hanging out with Abuelo and going to the market.
Lamoni's niece Naomin (center) was in a Cinco de Mayo presentation at her school. Doesn't she look so cute as an "Indian?" :Lamoni's nephew, Gnolaum, is on the left.
Finally at the Ranch!
Camping at the Hacienda
In between Mexico City and the ranch we got sidetracked and went camping! We met some of Lamoni's family at a church campout. This almost 200 year old hacienda is near two lakes with extensive grounds and buildings. It is very beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the area.
